Let us introduce ourselves
THE MISSION
Streetborn is a small foster-based cat rescue based in RVA.
We believe in the power of community, neighbors, and friends coming together to save local cats.
Fostering saves lives.
Opening your home to a cat in need is a direct action that saves a life & strengthens our community. Together, we have the power to protect vulnerable cats before they run out of options.
Spaying & Neutering saves lives.
Fixing cats through proactive vetting & TNR programs is the most effective way to end the overpopulation crisis. By supporting every tool available, including critical spayborts, we can prevent endless cycles of suffering.
Education saves lives.
Challenging stigmas is a vital step toward expanding the number of safe homes for cats in RVA. By educating our community on the value of adult, FIV+, FELV+, and medically complex cats, we can replace fear with facts and open doors for animals who are routinely overlooked.

Our Ethical Commitment
Our commitment to ethics extends beyond the cats. Rescue is only sustainable when people are treated with the same compassion we show animals. We intentionally foster a culture of kindness, honesty, respect, and collaboration where volunteers, fosters, adopters, donors, and community members are valued, heard, and appreciated.
This same radical inclusivity dictates how we save lives. Because we are a deliberately small, purely volunteer-run organization, our intake capacity is strictly limited by the open foster spaces we have available. However, within those spaces, we do not cherry-pick. We take in cats of all ages, colors, and genders based entirely on our current headcount limits. To us, no single cat is more important or valuable than the next. Stray adults, bottle-baby kittens, and FIV+ felines are all equally important, equally valued, and entirely worthy of a safe place to land.
